It's A Spiritual Thing

Our co-workers don't know how we manage to work so tirelessly yet always seem to be more than the job.

Our family members don't understand how we can be so constantly loving and nurturing yet set up concrete boundaries to maintain our spiritual balance.

It is the spiritual way of life that gives us a deep connection with the world and makes us different- more reliable and resilient than others. We are humans chock full of chaotic raw emotion but for the most part, we can overcome our fears, set aside those things we can't control and abide by our principles rather than our defects. Some people at this point may be thinking, "I'm not very spiritual but it sounds like just what I need." Of course they won't understand that we have gained confidence through humility. They surely won't be able to unlock the power in powerlessness because they scoff at the very idea of not being all-powerful. 

We don't judge those people as they seek to control their own lives. We don't even mention that their control is an illusion. That steamrolling God and his plans has left their life in chaos. It is an understanding of our fellows, forged through careful examination and action on our own defects, that gives us compassion toward them. After all, we aren't immune to making mistakes or falling off our path from time to time but, what really sets us apart is that we can look the world in the eyes. To some these statements are baffling but we have come to understand the indescribable. So when others are baffled by our way of life we simply explain, 

"It's a spiritual thing."
